html parser tcp server location header header line protocol

Posted in Everything at 11:15 pm by everything

The idea of HTTPJupiter is very simple - you connect to some TCP server and port, send there a request, and retrieve an answer. However, it has many options that make the process much easier than using, for instance, telnet. The program may be used just as a regular browser, if someone has an HTML parser implemented in his or her brain smiley

Warning: using this program needs some knowledge on HTTP protocol!

I use this program really often, mostly for example for solving problems on www.slyfx.com or www.mod-x.co.uk, also for viewing damaged pages, using fake cookies or tracing the path of visited pages, when they have Location header line, and are not displayed in regular browser. Also, an advantage of HTTPJupiter is that your computer cannot get infected when you visit some page, as nothing on the page is executed - the content is only displayed to user.

Full user’s manual included, with examples of use.

Download program here:
* HTTPJupiter.rar (324.39 KB - downloaded 501 times.)

If you have any comments or suggestions, you are welcome to express them smiley

beverly center santas roundup citysearch

Posted in Everything at 10:36 pm by everything

CitySearch listed its roundup for the best Santas in the city and it included Beverly Center’s “Hunky Santa,” the Santa who clocks in after 7pm when the kiddies have gone beddie-bye. And you’d think, “Beverly Center” and “West Hollywood,” this has got to be one hunky Santa since there certainly isn’t a shortage of “hunks” in the area. At least that’s what my friends and I thought.

So last year we thought it would be fun to get portraits done with the Hunky Santa for our Christmas cards. Sadly, when we got there, the Santa wasn’t so much a hunk as he was…a himbo. Well, that’s not a fair thing to say. Um, he looked like a New Jersey fireman. Better? What made it worse was that there wasn’t a line of giggly girls or gays for him…and I seriously considered getting the portrait done anyway cuz I felt bad since he seemed so friendly as he smiled and waved to all the passers-by who fled before him. So that holiday portrait idea was a bust.

Santa, Baby!
  1. But this year, checking out the Beverly Center site, there’s a special “Hunky Santa” section complete with pictures of this year’s winner. Sayyyyyy! He IS a cutie! Hmm, I might have to give the portrait idea another go… “Oh, Santa Baby!”
  1. If you want a different kind of Christmas portrait, forget about the jolly old man schtick and check out the pretty Kris Kringle at the Bev Center (located near the Snow Globes on Level 6) Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings thru December 23. Click here for Hunky Santa’s schedule.

fingertips scare malls holidays online stores

Posted in Everything at 10:35 pm by everything

Do malls during the holidays scare you? The following online stores are ones I keep at my fingertips just in case I need ideas for gifts that are cheap, fun, uncommon and even “thoughtful” since many of the sites even categorize the giftee: him, her, kid, host, party girl, etc. for your convenience. If you order now, you still have plenty of time to get it wrapped, packed and shipped to your lucky loved ones.

Serendipity Cocoa
  1. Fredflare.com
I love the Talking Japanese watches ($20)! They tell you the time in, yup, Japanese. Kawaii! Or how about pairing Serendipity 3 world famous frrrrozen/hot chocolate mix ($10) with the smiley face mug ($8) to give someone the warm fuzzies? Serendipity 3 is that famous ice cream parlor featured in that John Cusack movie with the same name.
BYOBag Lunchbag
  1. Raindogs: A People Store
I love these BYOBags. They’re all made of machine-washable neoprene and insulate your goods. They have it for wine, two wine bottles, a six-pack and this lovely lunch bag ($19.99). It has two compartments to hold your food and a drink, even opening up to form a placemat.
Sunset Wine Tote
  1. Uncommon Goods
The Sunset Wine Tote ($30) is perfect for those Hollywood Bowl nights as it comes with napkins, wine glasses, a reusable cork, a waiter’s tool with corkscrew and an insulated compartment to keep your wine at the correct temperature. Or for the cook who’s short on kitchen space, there’s this nifty magnetic Eat Well Speed Rack ($30) for their favorite spices.
Bachelor Mop Slippers
  1. Wishingfish.com
You can get that bachelor friend of yours to tidy up by presenting him with these savvy bachelor mop slippers ($9.95) and this takeout menu organizer ($24.95). Or, better yet, imagine him wearing the mop slippers and shaking a cocktail in this mini croc cocktail shaker ($22)? Very sexy! Hee!

Mobile Survival Kit - Don’t Leave Home Without It

Thu, 05/10/2007 - 8:30am by GeekSugar

If all goes well, I should be going on a weekend sailing adventure with a few of my friends in June, which is an amazing, sun-soaked experience the group looks forward to all year. It’s heaven save for one thing - there are no electrical outlets so we are limited to charging our cell phones, computers and gizmos when we’re docked at night. This year I’m coming prepared. I was planning on relying on the TuneJuice2, an iPod charger that runs off AA batteries and can provide up to 14 hours of additional audio play, but I found the Proporta Mobile Survival Kit, which will charge all my gadgets.

The kit is essentially a little USB rechargeable battery that plugs into any USB powered mobile device (phone, PDA, GPS, iPod, digital camera, etc.) and gives it that recharge juice it needs to keep working. In fact, the makers claim a fully charged Proporta Mobile Device Charger should be able to charge most mobile devices between three and five times from completely empty.

Apparently, “hard to charge devices,” like the iPod 5G will recharge and play for up to three times longer when connected to the charger. A plus is the fact that the kit comes with adapters for Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones, and can be connected to UK, European, Australian and US region adapters (not included). This means so long as the charger has power (it is charged via USB on your computer), so will all the rest of your gadgets. The kit costs 44.95 and it’s worth every penny.

To check out more pictures of the kit in action,

Note: The Proporta USB Mobile Device charger is not compatible with the Microsoft Zune.

Blog Comment Spam

I used to hear others complain about it, but now it’s finally been hitting me.  I’ve been getting a LOT of blog comment spam.  At first it was manageable.  I could just go into the Community Server admin tool and delete the 10 or so a day that would be there.  But now I’m getting 100s per day!  I’m afraid real comments may be getting lost in there.  I’m going to possibly have to turn off anonymous commenting to prevent this, but I don’t want to.

If you have posted a comment here on my blog and not seen it published, send me an e-mail through the “E-Mail” link on the top of the blog and I will try to find your comment in the mix and publish it.
